Itinerary
Day 01 :
Arrival in Kigali – City Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
- Arrive at Kigali International Airport or pick-up from your hotel.
- Briefing by your safari guide.
- Kigali city tour highlights:
- Kigali Genocide Memorial
- Caplaki Craft Market
- Local café/lunch stop
- Afternoon scenic drive (2.5 hrs) to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park.
- Arrive and check in to your lodge with views of the Virunga Volcanoes.
- Dinner & overnight in Volcanoes region.
Day 02 :
Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
- Early breakfast and transfer to park headquarters for a safety and trekking briefing.
- Begin your guided gorilla trek through the rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family.
- Spend a powerful 1 hour observing the gorillas in their natural setting.
- Return to base, receive trekking certificate, and head back to the lodge for lunch.
- Afternoon at leisure or visit the Dian Fossey Museum (optional).
- Dinner & overnight at the lodge.
Day 03 :
Golden Monkey Tracking / Cultural Visit (Optional)
- After breakfast, optional activities:
- Golden Monkey Tracking in Volcanoes NP – playful and energetic primates in bamboo forests.
- Or visit Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village for a community experience with local traditions.
- Return to lodge for lunch and relaxation.
- Optional walk around Twin Lakes of Burera & Ruhondo in the afternoon.
- Dinner & overnight at the lodge.
Day 04 :
Volcanoes to Kigali – Departure
- Breakfast and check-out.
- Scenic return drive to Kigali.
- Time permitting, stop at local markets or art galleries.
- Drop-off at Kigali International Airport or your hotel.
- End of Safari.
